Policy track 1: Master Class in Circular Economy

The application of the Circular Economy principles has become, in recent times, one of the leading strategies for the EU. The approval of the Circular Economy Package (december 2015) represents an important declaration of intention about the coming “circularisation” of the European and Mediterranean economy. The Mena region is considered a key player in this mid term strategy and critical role in the regional sustainable future. Time has come to learn how to enable and scale this transformation.

The session will be identifying and providing interesting insights about the main aspects to be considered by policy makers, entrepreneurs and establish organisations in order to enable the “circularization” of the MENA region economy. A comprehensive and provocative overview of the most important opportunities to be explored to advance towards a circular model.

The participants will learn about the current situation while identifying enablers and barriers, to find inspiration by the Circular Economy principles and to explore circular opportunities in the MENA region.his first part is organised in collaboration with Circolae.

In the second part of this session, Global Sustain will present the Yearbook 2015-2016: SCP – Towards Circular Economy, views and case studies related to circular economy from institutions and businesses. The publication is prepared in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and specifically with the Regional Activity Center for Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP/RAC) of the Mediterranean Action Plan (MAP).
