Miroslav Maly
Biography
Mr Miroslav Maly graduated from a technical university with industrial energy efficiency specialisation. For 25 years he worked in energy consultancy business. During this period he was involved in many projects and in many countries focused on development of energy policy, energy efficiency action plans on the national and local levels, regulatory framework in energy efficiency and later on he was mostly involved in development of energy efficiency projects including identification of potential sources of their financing.
Having experienced difficulties in identification of available financial sources and communication with local and international financial institution on financing such projects inspired him to join an international financial institution with a clear sustainable financing mandate and a team with specific focus on sustainable energy financing – the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Energy Efficiency and Climate Change Team. He has joined the Bank in 2008 – in the period of the financial crisis which created a new challenge for the Bank – to provide even more resources for financing sustainable energy projects which would help companies reduce their costs and improve their competitiveness in a very difficult time.
Since joining the Bank Mr Maly worked on development of Sustainable Energy Financing Facilities in many countries of Central and Eastern Europe, the Western Balkans and now he is mostly involved in development and implementation of such facilities in Turkey and North Africa countries, more specifically in Morocco and Egypt.
