Najib Saab
Biography
Najib Saab is the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Al-Bia Wal-Tanmia, (Environment & Development), the leading mass circulation pan-Arab magazine on sustainable development. He is also Secretary-General of the Arab Forum for Environment and Development (AFED), a non-governmental regional organization, grouping experts together with the civil society, business community and media, with government bodies as observer members, to promote prudent environmental policies and programmes across the Arab region.
He is editor of AFED’s annual series of State of Arab Environment reports, which covered since 2008 topics including: Impact of Climate Change on Arab Countries, Water, Sustainable Energy, Green Economy, Ecological Footprint, Food Security and Sustainable Consumption. Mr. Saab has a long standing personal commitment in fostering public communication and education about climate change and sustainable development issues as well as in advising various governments and agencies on environment and writing on sustainable development and technology. In 2003 he was laureate of the United Nations Environment Programme’s Global 500 Award for environmental achievement and was awarded the Zayed International Prize for the Environment in 2011 for positive impact on society.
