Biography
Nicola is an experienced programme manager in the field of energy, environment, and climate change. He has joined the European Commission in 2008 and has worked in the Caribbean, the Caucasus and Central Asia before moving to Brussels, where he is currently directing a large portfolio of multi-country projects in the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean region.
Before joining the European Commission Nicola has followed for many years the negotiation and development of important EU environmental and climate change legislative proposals as Policy Officer of the Commission for Sustainable Development of the Committee of the Regions, and has successfully contributed to voice the position of European local and regional authorities especially in the fields of GMOs, energy efficiency and climate change mitigation.
Nicola holds an engineering MSc in Climate Change and Sustainable Development and has a solid academic background in international relations, politics and economics of the European Union. He also is a certified project manager and a member of the International Association of Impact Assessment.
